Explorers Credit Union Hosts Virtual Grand Opening for New Tea Location
Yankton, SD: When Explorers Credit Union announced their new name on March 4, 2020 as well as began remodeling a new branch location in Tea, South Dakota, they had no idea that just a short week later, they would need to operate under a global pandemic.
“Honestly, our name Explorers was put to test immediately. We were exploring new ways to assist our members, creating new options for life on “pause,” as well as finding innovative ways to promote our new branch location that operated as a drive-thru facility only,” stated Nikki Doherty, Marketing Director of Explorers Credit Union.
Explorers Credit Union quickly rose to this new challenge by creating a how-to video series that focused and educated members on how to utilize online products and services. “We are fortunate to offer member account opening online as well as the plethora of online banking and mobile services,” Doherty continued.
The new Tea Branch opened their drive up on April 9, 2020. “We anticipated a grand opening celebrating as soon as all Explorers completed their task of staying home to protect our community. As time went on, we knew we wanted to celebrate our new location while adhering to CDC and social distancing guidelines. We saw the work Feeding South Dakota has done throughout their inception and the ideas started to form,” stated Doherty.
“With so many summer gatherings cancelling, we wanted to bring entertainment as well as give back to the communities we serve,” Doherty stated. Explorers Credit Union will host three LIVE broadcasts throughout the day on Wednesday, July 8. Beginning at Noon, the musical duo of Six Feet Over will draw from a variety of musical genres with a creative spin on favorite songs. At 2:00 PM, our second LIVE broadcast will feature the magic of Travis Nye as well as discussion with Feeding South Dakota.
Our final LIVE broadcast takes us to Squealer’s Smoke Shack to visit their new digs as well as learn a few tips and tricks for barbeque season.
