Description
You’re Invited: Senator Rounds to Host Tele-Townhall for South Dakota Small Businesses Monday
Rounds will be joined by officials from the Small Business Administration
PIERRE– U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) is inviting South Dakota small business owners to join him in a live, toll-free tele-townhall on Monday, April 6, at 10 a.m. CT/9 a.m. MT to discuss the small business relief previsions in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The CARES Act includes $350 billion in support for small businesses with fewer than 500 employees through a new Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
Rounds will be joined by Dan Nordberg, Region 8 Administrator for the Small Business Administration (SBA). During the one-hour tele-townhall, small business owners will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the implementation of the CARES Act and the PPP. As you know, the SBA and Treasury Department recently issued interim guidance for local lenders. Banks and credit unions in South Dakota are reviewing this information and hope to be able to offer these loans. We understand that the SBA has been tasked with putting together a new, complex program in a short amount of time. Likewise, we understand the concerns of community banks, lenders and borrowers regarding the implementation of the PPP and the urgency of getting this program running to help businesses and employees.
Details on the interim final rule, including the application form and information for both lenders and borrowers, are available here.
