NEW BAKERY, EATERY WILL SHARE PLANS AT 1MC
The Meridian District’s culinary delights have increased with the additions of a restaurant and bakery. Both entrepreneurs will share their plans at Wednesday’s (March 4) One Million Cups program.
Bill Nooney has already opened Bur Oak Diner and Carrie Dyk will soon start Carrie’s Cupcakes. They join a growing mix of shops and eateries in the Meridian. “It has been very exciting to see all the new activity,” says Carmen Schramm, who will host a panel with Nooney and Dyk.
Schramm will also be joined by Dan Specht, a Yankton realtor, who will discuss business succession. “We love to see business startups,” she says, “and it is equally important that we focus as business owners and community leaders on business succession. Right now we have several important businesses in the city that are at a crossroads because the owners are ready to retire. How can the community help to keep that business open and transition to a new entrepreneur?”
1MC is a monthly forum of entrepreneurship sponsored by Onward Yankton. Wednesday’s meeting begins at 9 a.m. with free coffee at the Riverfront Events Center on Third Street. Everyone is welcome.
