The paintings in this exhibition represent a selection of both "sought" and "found" works.
Sought paintings are exactly that, artwork that has resulted from a deliberate search for suitable subject matter. Generally about a specific locale or subject, they are a product of the artist's skills as a craftsman.
Found paintings are my interpretations of scenes I have witnessed. Most often figurative in nature, they are small stories concerning the people we happen to see during the course of our daily life. The found paintings are a mix of comedy and drama and their narrative has a not-easily-defined quality which interests me. I have come to understand them as my visceral reaction to life's slightly mad scenarios.
