As a Catholic, Benedictine college founded by the Sisters of St. Benedict in 1936, Mount Marty University's academic programs are grounded in faith and service as much as they are in the liberal arts. Primary emphasis is placed on the development of each person as a complete human being with special attention paid to intellectual, professional, and personal skills as well as moral, spiritual, and social values.
On the main residential campus in Yankton, South Dakota, MMU offers certificate, associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees, and we prepare our students for professional careers in over 30 fields. Located on the bluffs of the Missouri River, the beautiful 80-acre campus has a distinctive mix of modern and historic buildings.
The 12:1 ratio provides an intimate, collaborative environment, so students can learn and grow as individuals. All courses at MMU are taught by professors, not graduate students. Our student achievement in service learning and clinical and internship experiences, as well as our 96% graduate placement rate, attest to the fact that MMU is on the leading edge of teaching and learning.
The University prides itself on making attendance affordable. Not only is MMU already one of the most reasonably priced private universities in the region, but there are also generous scholarship opportunities available.
