SBDC offices provide professional, confidential, and no-cost business consulting services, including one-on-one counseling and training, to individuals starting a business or looking for ways to improve an existing business.

     

    Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)

    SBIR provides increased opportunities for small businesses to meet federal research and development needs by fostering and encouraging participation in technological innovation programs offered by federal agencies. It is a highly competitive three phase grant program. The SBIR program provides $2.5 billion dollars per year through 4,800 awards to small businesses to develop new products and processes that address federal research and development needs. 

     

    SDMyLife Network

    SDMyLife Network is part of an online career and academic planning system that reaches over 60,000 7-12 students. Businesses benefit from this free online network by highlighting their community involvement and actively developing the future workforce of South Dakota. Professionals can participate in Network by setting up a company profile, becoming a career coach, and/or offering work-based learning experiences

     

    South Dakota Department of Labor

    Their mission is to promote economic opportunity and financial security for individuals and businesses through quality, responsive and expert services; fair and equitable employment solutions; and safe and sound business practices. Along with being a good source to list your business job postings they also work with individuals to complete a National Career Readiness Certificate to verify to employers that they have the essential core employability skills.

    The Department of Labor also has the Registered Apprenticeship Program. The Office of Apprenticeship is a service agency of the U.S. DOL which provides technical assistance to employers who have an interest in establishing a registered apprenticeship program for their workforce.
