YANKTON — Mount Marty College (MMC) in Yankton, South Dakota, has released its Bede Art Gallery Exhibit schedule for the 2017-18 academic term. Featuring gallery talks on digital photography, mixed media paintings/photography and sculpture, the Bede Art Exhibit will showcase these events among other expressions of art and will conclude with the MMC Spring Student Art Show in May 2018.
Currently on display, the gallery is hosting "Photography of Frank Lloyd Wright Inspired Church Architecture in Nebraska and Arkansas," a 35mm/digital photography exhibit by MMC alumnus Christopher Buschelman. The exhibit will conclude with a reception and gallery talk Sept. 29 from 2-4 p.m.
From Oct. 2-27, "Arteries of Innocence" and "Turtle Tracks" exhibits by mother/daughter duo Mary Black Bonnent and Keya Artichoker will be on display. The mixed media painting and photography exhibit will feature a two-hour reception and gallery talk on Oct. 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
A special exhibit featuring sculpture will be on display from Oct. 30 through Nov. 24. Jaqueline Boyer, MMC Associate Professor of Art David Kahle and MMC students will present "Geriatric Therapeutic Art and Avera Sacred Heart Majestic Bluffs, Yankton, S.D." The exhibit will feature paintings, sculptures and mixed media artwork. A reception and gallery talk will be held Nov. 17 from 2-4 p.m.
The Bede Art Gallery will exhibit the MMC Winter Student Show from Nov. 27 through Dec. 15.
The 2018 art year will begin with John Bahasiak's "Backyard Madonnas" a colour photography exhibit, from Jan. 2-26 with a reception and gallery talk on Jan. 26 from 2-4 p.m.
From Jan. 29 to Feb. 23, Cheryl Halsey's "Yes" photography exhibit will be on display in the Bede Art Gallery, culminating in a reception and gallery talk Feb. 23 from 2-4 p.m.
MMC student and Andrea Mailbaum will present their "Graphic Design Student Show" from Feb. 26 to March 30. A reception and gallery talk will be held March 23 from 4-6 p.m.
The MMC Spring Student Art Show will be open to the MMC community and the public from April 3 through May 5 at the gallery and will finish the MMC academic year.
All exhibits at the Bede Art Gallery are open and complimentary to public viewing Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The gallery is located at 1105 W. Eighth St. in Yankton, on MMC’s campus, just off of the Marian Auditorium lobby.
