  • February, 2016: The Yankton School District has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 13th year in a row.
  • February, 2016: Congratulations to Kolberg-Pioneer, Inc., for receiving the prestigious Astec Industries Founder’s Award for 2015 for outstanding performance.
  • February, 2016: Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. surgeons Ryan Garry, MD, Jessie Kampshoff, MD and Luke Serck, MD donated $75,000 toward adding turf at the Sertoma baseball fields and another $25,000 for improvements at the fields north of Yankton High School for the Yankton Girls Softball Association.
  • February, 2016: RTEC has received a community development block grant from the SD Governor’s Office of Economic Development to help pay for new Computer Numberic Controlled Machining equipment.
  • February, 2016: The Yankton Elks Lodge #994 has awarded six $300 scholarships to high school seniors based on leadership abilities, classroom performance and financial need.
  • February, 2016: The Yankton Seed Library is officially open!  Monthly classes on various topics are available to help the public learn how to grow a garden.
  • February, 2016: Jay Koletsky of Koletsky Implement was a Business Delegate for a legislative briefing sponsored by the SD Retailers Association in Pierre.
  • January, 2016: Congratulations to Mt. Marty College! Mount Marty College was listed as #47 in the Best Regional Colleges Midwest category in U.S. News and World Report.
  • January, 2016: Kopetsky’s Ace Hardware is expanding. They will be opening a new store in Orange City, IA.
  • January, 2016: Welcome to Tim Harms, the new senior sales engineer for crushing and screening products at Kolberg-Pioneer, Inc. He began his employment with the company in 1989 and has served a variety of roles. After leaving the company to work full-time on the family farm for a few years, Kolberg-Pioneer is thrilled to have Harms back full-time. “Tim has more than 20 years of product knowledge in the industry, and with that experience, he will be a great asset.”
  • December, 2015: Mount Marty named “Best Bang for the Buck” Third Year in a Row.  The “Best Bang for the Buck” listing is based on the economic value students receive per dollar spent on their education. Ranking is based on the “net” price (not the sticker price), graduation rates and the earning potential of graduates in comparison to their student loan debt. With 99% of Mount Marty College students receiving financial aid, the “net” price of a Mount Marty education is considerably less than the sticker price.
  • December, 2015: Northtown Automotive raised $2900 during a November fundraiser for the Yankton Area Homeless Shelter! Thank you!
  • December, 2015: The Yankton School Board is examining opportunities for the school district to partner with Yankton Area Progressive Growth and local manufacturers and business to provide paid internships for Yankton HS students.
  • December, 2015: ABS Residential Direct Support Professional, Jaime Jorgensen recently participated in the South Dakota “Simply the Best: Leading the Way” banquet and received the “Excellence in Service” award from the Director of Community Support Providers of South Dakota, Daryl Kilstrom.
  • December, 2015: Yankton High School announced that six students were chosen as semi-finalists for the U.S. Presidential Scholars program. The students include: Joseph Kelly, Andrew Pietz, Cody Perakslis, Danielle Gillis, Talitha Greaver and Hannah Williams and Danielle Gillis.
  • November, 2015: Congratulations to Mount Marty College on the recent Nursing Accreditation.
  • September, 2015: Congratulations to Bruce Cull for receiving a silver plaquette from Dr. Ugur Erdener, World Archery President, for Cull’s contributions to the World Archery Family and maintaining the ongoing growth and success of the sport. Bruce is one of only 9 other individuals from the United States to have ever received this award!
